Summer Camp is Where Kids Discover They Can!

Summer camp is where kids discover they can!  These eight little words are so simple and yet incredibly POWERFUL. When people ask me why I feel so strongly about providing kids the opportunity to go to camp, there is so much I want to tell them. I may only have their attention for a few seconds. I want to use this time wisely so that I can really share the true essence of what the summer camp experience at Towering Pines has to offer.

I recently received an email from SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education), and it had such a compelling message that I want to share it with you.

WE BELIEVE ALL children deserve the chance to experience summer camp to explore, learn, and laugh with friends from sunup to lights out.

WE BELIEVE summer camp is where kids discover that they CAN.

That meeting new people at camp helps children feel like they can belong just about anywhere, and that conquering climbing walls and ropes courses can inspire them to reach for even higher goals.

WE BELIEVE that making a splash in life can start with doing cannon balls off a dock, that riding a horse for the first time can teach children to take the reins of their future, and that arts & crafts has the power to inspire creativity and sculpt character.

WE BELIEVE the great outdoors is the greatest classroom, and that inner tubing beats YouTubing any day of the week.

WE BELIEVE that every child should know that there’s s’more to life out there, and that everything they try, discover, and conquer at camp creates a path to even greater possibilities in school, college, their careers and throughout their lives.

This summer the boys of Towering Pines shared many of the things they learned they CAN do by exploring and trying them at camp. (All campers whose responses we received are included here.)
