“I can’t help children learn and grow if they aren’t here (at camp.)” — John Jordan

We all have many Mr. and Mrs. Jordan stories . . . through their help and guidance, we were able to strive for our true potential.   They taught us to live by a camp code that accepts everyone for who they are and truly celebrates one another’s individual gifts.  Some of us have unique camp stories because Mr. Jordan gave many individuals the opportunity to go to camp when they otherwise would not have been able to afford it.

Before the scholarship program, known as the Jordan Scholarship Fund, was established, Mr. John and Mrs. Anne Jordan felt compelled to help others within their community. They did so by personally providing tuition assistance through their own generosity.  Specifically, Mr. Jordan wanted to assure that children of teachers who share their educational gifts with others had the same opportunity to send their children to camp.

Since Mr. and Mrs. Jordan’s passing, other camp alumni and families have begun to honor them through financial support with both large and small tuition contributions. Each donation makes a significant impact. This continues to help pass on the Jordan family’s strong belief in the significance of a 6-week experience for campers at Camp Woodland for Girls and Towering Pines Camp for Boys.  All recipients are selected based on financial need no matter their affiliation.

What is so amazingly awesome about camp is that the experiences and adventures that create the story for each of us, have a ripple effect.  All of these shared experiences and lessons that are learned at camp are taken out into the world and shared, and the impact is exponential.   Thank you for being a part of our camp community!!
