Water Sports
There’s more than swimming at the waterfront! Water-skiing, knee boarding, tubing, wakeboarding, canoeing, skin diving snorkeling, fishing, water volleyball and rowing.
Waterskiing
Take off behind one of the two ski boats and go for it! We have a variety of water skis to meet the needs of all levels of skiers. Our experienced instructors take the time to work with our beginning skiers, helping them get up on two skis. As campers improve they learn various tricks: how to drop a ski, how to dock start and how to slalom. Knee boarding, wakeboarding and even trick ski round out this skill based program.
Rowing
We often have glassy water in the early mornings and evenings, which make for ideal rowing conditions. Campers who choose this activity are taught proper form & stroke in 1 man shell technique. Lifejackets are worn while participating.
Canoeing
Using high quality sturdy aluminum canoes, in camp instruction focuses on teaching the fundamentals of canoeing. Strokes, steering, capsize, safety procedures and portaging, Canoeing as a basic skill set prepares the camper for off-site camping trips along Wisconsin’s many lakes and streams.
Fishing
The lakes of the Northwoods are home to the best fishing in Wisconsin. Some of our most notable “catch of the days” are bluegill, large mouth bass, and northern pike. Whether from a pontoon boat or rowboat to right off the dock, our instructors teach campers the skills how to reel in any size fish!
Introductory skills include: caring for their rod and reel, baiting their lines and, of course, catching and releasing of a fish. As campers advance through the levels of fishing, they head out to different parts of the lake and learn new techniques as they try to land “old fighter”.
