Camp memories – Jonathan "JB" Terry
There are some things I’ll always associate with camp. This 4th of July, I’m taken back to some of my favorite memories with this holiday, many of which are sitting at the campfire grounds on lake Nokomis, watching the sunset reflect on the lake and those UNFORGETTABLE skits. The 4th of July campfire was a really special time for me as a Towering Pines camper — after all, it was the first time the Woodland girls came for a visit! It’s […]
Fourth of July!!
Happy 4th of July!!! I participated in the first water polo game of the summer. It felt good to be in the water after another hot day. Having so many people playing together brings out the best in camp spirit, and it’s good competitive exercise! For dinner, Cabin 11 cooked hamburgers for the entire camp at the main cookout pit. Once my parents left and I was unpacking, I felt a wave of homesickness come on. Just as the homesickness was about to take hold, a second year camper, Chris Forbrich, came up to me, “hey Matt, I’m Chris. Let me help you unpack and then […]
Sunday, July 1st: Pirates Day!
Chief of the Day: Andy (cabin 8) Today was the first special event of the 2012 season and it was in the hands of pirates! Campers enjoyed a treasure hunt in the morning and then divided into red vs. blue teams for piratical games such as bocce ball and the cannon shoot in the afternoon! Between the heat and the cannon smoke, the boys were happy to walk the plank into Lake Nokomis for free-swim afterwards. This beautiful Towering Pines […]
