Sunday, July 1st: Pirates Day!
Chief of the Day: Andy (cabin 8)
Today was the first special event of the 2012 season and it was in the hands of pirates! Campers enjoyed a treasure hunt in the morning and then divided into red vs. blue teams for piratical games such as bocce ball and the cannon shoot in the afternoon! Between the heat and the cannon smoke, the boys were happy to walk the plank into Lake Nokomis for free-swim afterwards.
This beautiful Towering Pines day ended with individual cabin activities and the annual Chief’s Campfire, where each cabin’s elected Medicine Man and Chief were announced. The boys learned about some Native American traditions that have been an integral part of camp culture throughout its history.
Everyone has jumped right into the camp routine, making new friends and catching up with old ones! We can’t wait to see what the next day will bring.
