Camper Achievements Week 3

We’re halfway through the camp season (man, that hurts to even think about), and your sons are doing a superb job of building skills and passing ranks.

Be proud of them, we certainly are.

Vespers

• Cabin 11 presented on the theme of “Maturity.”

Sunday Special Event / Gold Rush Day

• Cabin 3 found the Mother Lode thereby winning the event.
• Cabin 11, alas, found the dummy gold, indubitably leading to much an aching of the bellies and gnashing o’ the teeth.

Cabin Clean-Up

• Cabin 12, the CITs, won cabin clean-up this week – setting a great example for the younger campers and will winning a free trip to Cathy’s Ice Cream. Great job gents.
• Cabin 8 came in last place and their counselors “won” responsibility for cleaning the Counselor Cabin this week. Little FYI from the Nurse: if you leave your cabin a mess when you go on a canoe trip, it does not, in fact, clean itself before cabin inspections the following morning.

Archery

• Calvin F earned his Black Archer status.
• Side note: Black Archer is the coolest-sounding rank. It rings of things dark and sinister, maybe even – dare I utter the word?! – villainous?
• James W earned his Black Bowman.
• Another Side Note: See what I mean? Great accomplishment for young James, props to the lad, but Black Bowman just doesn’t carry the same panache as a Black Archer.
• Andrew C-P earned his White Archer AND had a high score of the day with a 43 at 10 yards. Well done sir.
• Jack B earned his Gold Yeoman.
• Calvin F earned his Blue Yeoman.
• Perry H earned his White Archer.
• Henry M earned his Black Bowman.
• George T had a high score of the day with a 45 at 20 yards.
• Ferran S-A earned his Black Archer.
• George T earned his Black Archer AND had another high score of the day with a 44 at 20 yards. Robin Hood Jorge tearing up the archery range.
• Jake St earned his Blue Bowman.
• George M had high score of the day with a 45 at 10 yards.

Sail Race

• Diego L won a sail race this week.
• In a Dread Pirate Regatta, Mitch T won the race, thereby earning a new title of “Metch the Bardic Pirate.”

Fishing Catch of the Day

Way to go Chris!!

• Alec B caught a 12” largemouth bass.
• Ethan N caught a 12” smallmouth bass.
• Chris W caught an 18” smallmouth bass that weighed darn near as much as Chris himself. Please disregard any rumor that implies he was using one of the Cabin 3 boys as bait.
• Jake St caught a 12” smallmouth bass.

Tennis

• Rodrigo E is the leader in the 12 & Under TP Ladder.
• Jake S is the leader in the 14 & Under TP Ladder.
• Sebastian C is the leader in the 16 & Under TP Ladder.
• Want that top spot boys? Bring it!

Skin Diving

• Sebastian G net caught a 3” bluegill that he insisted we acknowledge. And so now we have.
• Christian P, Rafael F, and Sebastian G won the first underwater scavenger hunt.
• James E caught a 6” rock bass with a net.

Zoo

• Johnny K caught two snakes: a smooth green snake and a garter snake. Much to the horrified delight of the boys, the garter snake then ate one of the smaller frogs in the terrarium. According to several of the boys, you can still see a frog-shaped bump in the snake’s belly!

Weirdest Camper of the Week

• Not only does young Alec B make great camp faces, he’s also appreciates gobsmacklingly bad puns like a sommelier savors an exquisite wine :
