A very busy day!

The Fourth of July was an epic day here at Towering Pines Camp!

IMG_3657My day began with the first coed sailing regatta of the summer. I took the boys of sailrace over to Camp Woodland to test their mettle. The race began with our boys in the lead, but the distraction of pretty faces must have been too much for them! The TP boats finished last, teaching the guys some humility and motivating them to step up their game next time!IMG_3658

The evening saw our annual TP/Woodland Fourth of July campfire. Each cabin from both camps performed skits, sang songs, and enjoyed the evening until the sky was dark enough to really enjoy the fireworks. The TP band workshop even played the Lumineers’ song Ho Hey.

IMG_3670The highlight of the evening was, of course, the fireworks display! Each shot was dedicated to those people and things that make camp what it is, from John Marion Jordan (both of them!) all the way to camp Jambalaya!IMG_3716IMG_3698A great time was had by all and the campers even got to stay up a bit later than usual. Fireworks were going off all around the lake to celebrate our country’s birthday, overpowered only by the sounds of laughter from the assembled campers and staff in the flashing lights. I can’t wait to see what the future holds after such an exciting day!
